About Pete

Pete Jannotta has worked as a Colorist in the Film and Television industry since 1978 and continues to embrace new technology to further his artistry as a painter of digital imagery. Pete has a personal interest in the preservation of valuable historical films, both for families and content makers

When you work with Pete, you are in store for beautiful images, a positive experience, beautiful pictures and fun. Pete provides a level of creativity, craftsmanship and collaboration that can be learned only through years experience.  

Pete has worked with a myriad of color correction systems including every permutation of DaVinci since its inception. His current tools of choice are three Davinci Resolve systems. These systems include state of the art monitoring and control. Technology supplies his tools, while Pete supplies exclusive talent.

Pete has worked with hundreds of clients on thousands of projects. Before opening his own shop, “Color By Pete”, he was a colorist at Editel Chicago working on national and international advertising accounts until becoming a partner in Skyview Film and Video where he continued to hone his craft working with A-list clients from Chicago, the Midwest, and, indeed, the world. After 10 years at Skyview, Pete moved to The Filmworkers Club where he continued to work on advertising accounts as well as feature films, documentaries, archival films and music videos.

Pete has been a mentor to several successful colorists located across the U.S. and enjoys sharing his knowledge with innovative new filmmakers as a part- time teacher of Film Scanning and Color Correction at Columbia College in Chicago.  Pete continues to amaze creatives with his ability to magically transform images, bringing latent beauty to life.
